On the other hand, if you plan to go to school, you could use the extra money for tuition and books and such, so maybe it wouldn%26#039;t be a bad idea. There is a huge problem that occurs when this happens. You have people transfer balances or get a home equity loan to pay off cards. At that time, they still have the same payments due but they also have a card with a zero balance. Therefore, the next step for most is to go out and run that balance back up. Buckle down and get card paid off. Figure out a budget and use everything extra you can to pay off the cards. Then, once they are paid off, only charge what you can pay.
